In January 2019, UK Youth and Oliver Bonas joined forces to create a unique, youth driven two-year charity partnership.
From inspiring opportunities for young people to gain insight into the company and develop key life skills to creating uplifting awareness campaigns that translated into new products designed by young people for sale in store, the partnership has grown from strength to strength. Over 20,000 UK Youth products have been sold , which has raised over £58,000 for UK Youth so far. We celebrated a fantastic first year by being nominated to the Business Charity Awards for Best Charity-Retail partnership.
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network and have over 610+ million members worldwide. Our partnership aims to support young people to improve their employability prospects through the delivery of LinkedIn’s Coaches programme.
Over the last year LinkedIn have hosted seven sessions for young people and youth workers within our Movement and supported us through the Covid-19 crisis with financial and pro-bono support. They’ve also provided invaluable opportunities for young people in our network, including the chance for 14 young people to have one to one mentoring sessions with their senior leadership team.
Having partnered with Microsoft since 2012 they’ve supported over 30,000 young people to build digital skills, worked with 116 youth organisations, delivered hackathons, developed coding curriculum, upskilled youth workers and donated an incredible 3,000 hours of volunteering.
2019/20 saw the launch of our Generation Code Accelerator programme, working to upskill youth workers in local communities leaving a legacy of tech provision in order to continually support thousands of young people. Microsoft have generously furthered their support during the Covid-19 Crisis, offering vital tech workshops to young people, donating devices to our Movement and free use of Microsoft Teams for local youth organisations.
Charlotte Grobien OBE is the founder and CEO of Give It Away.
An inspiring example of innovative philanthropy, Give It Away builds properties from scratch or renovates existing homes and donates all profits to charity. Charlotte has donated an incredible £1.9m to charities supporting children and young people in need. We are incredibly grateful to have Charlotte’s support, not only donating vital funds towards our programmes at Avon Tyrrell but also for her generosity in time. We’ve benefited from Charlotte’s advice and guidance, she’s taken time to visit our programmes and attended our events to champion the work of UK Youth with new supporters.
The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-makers in the UK, awarding grants to organisations which aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK.
Since 2015, the Foundation have supported UK Youth with a five-year grant, totalling £500,000. This funding has enabled UK Youth to grow the UK Youth Movement, enhance our offer to young people, represent and support the youth sector and lead systemic change.
Art for Youth London returned to the Mall Galleries for it’s 32nd year.
The exhibition was kindly sponsored by Rathbones with a preview evening attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, UK Youth’s Royal Patron and Nigel Mansell, UK Youth’s President. The weeklong exhibition showed works from over 130 artists with over 1,000 pieces of art on sale. Art for Youth London raised over £96,000 for UK Youth. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of the organising committee, artists and valued guests.
