Outdoor Learning
Avon Tyrrell, a leading outdoor centre in the beautiful New Forest, with unique heritage and beautiful grounds, is the central hub for our outdoor learning delivery.
It provides an extensive range of inclusive outdoor activities and human-centric experiences, alongside tailored programmes that allow everyone to experience, learn and develop.
Sadly, the outdoor learning sector has taken a big hit over the last year. Government restrictions forced the closure of Avon Tyrrell for the first time in our 75-year history. Throughout these trying times our outdoor learning staff have shown incredible commitment, dedication and resilience.
We repeatedly adapted and updated our operating practices, so that each time we reopened we had the best chance of providing safe open spaces and outdoor learning opportunities.
So even with all the Covid-19 restrictions, 2020/21 was no write-off. We engaged with 4,505 young people, helping them to experience safe outdoor spaces and learning as part of school groups, youth organisation trips or other visits.
